Sunday In The Word: What Is The Cost?

Last Sunday I didn't feel well and neither did Daniel.  We decided to spend the day at home so found a Livestream service of a church in Greenville, SC.  Dr. Tim Kesee was speaking on missions and it was such a blessing to me.  I chose to journal the passage he preached from as a reminder of the cost of following Christ.  The passage I chose to journal was Matthew 16:24-26.

What about you?  Are you afraid of the cost of following Christ completely?  I know that in Christ alone, I can follow Him without fear of the future.

Sunday In The Word: Bible Journaling - A First Attempt

When I first saw Bible journaling a few years ago, I was a bit resistant to the concept.  I had written notes in my Bible for years but really wasn't sure about drawing in it or filling pages with color.  However, in recent months I've been reconsidering this as something to be used as a tool in drawing me closer to the Lord as I study His word.  I jumped onto CBD and found this nice Bible.   I signed up for a class with Sandy Allnock that you can find here and today, I finally did my first page.  This was really a very simple start and I look forward to exploring more crafting mediums in future pages.

As mentioned in previous posts,we recently packed up our home after nearly 13 years and moved to the Mid-West.  It has been great in so many ways but difficult in others.  In December, the Lord brought Esther 4:14 to mind.  I am here for a reason, and I truly believe that it is for something besides working in a new department with a new team.

Here are the supplies that I used:
Crown coloring page from - here (used to trace image)
Crayola colored pencils
Washi tape
Staedtler Triplis Fineliner in black

One of the most important things that I learned is that it is very important to place a sheet of paper between the page that you are working on and the one behind it.  I didn't worry about this since I was simply using colored pencils.  However, the thick black lines in the word "time" bled through onto the page behind it.  Though this would have been evident on the backside of the page that I was working on, it would not have marred the page below had I placed that sheet of paper down.

End of an Era (CTMH)

As mentioned in previous posts, my family and I made a major move in late July.  After nearly 6 months since leaving my old home, I still haven't come to a place to be able to work with Close To My Heart like I once did. After going back and forth to come to this decision, I believe that now is the time to say goodbye. I simply do not have time the to spend. Therefore, January will be my final month to promote it as a consultant. I have an active gathering going on right now at www.djssundries.ctmh.com and I would love for anyone who is interested to be able to join and place a final order with me. There are some great products available right now.

After January, I would like to invite you to reach out to Oma Gloria for your Close To My Heart needs. Watch for a link to her online personal site in February.  Gloria and I were on a design team together years ago and she has been on my CTMH team for around a year or so. I will definitely be purchasing the items that I need from her once my account becomes inactive.

This blog will not be closing nor will my YouTube channel.  I hope to be able to begin actively posting again soon.  In fact, this is one of the influencing factors in finishing up my time with CTMH.  For several years, I have focused most of my crafting efforts and posts using CTMH products.  I have loved my time with them and still plan to use their products, but I am also ready to get back to the freedom of running to the craft store and getting some of the new items available outside of Close To My Heart.  With my work schedule and home life, I simply find that I don't have time to do both.

Several of the videos that are becoming available currently on my YouTube channel were videos designed for my Close To My Heart club members when the club was active.  Therefore, you will hear comments about me moving, etc.  To clarify, I am not moving again right now.  In fact, I haven't finished unpacking from my previous move.  I am just opening those older videos for public viewing as I believe that they contain content that would be beneficial to beginner paper crafters.  I cannot thank my faithful CTMH supporters enough.  It has been a great journey and I will be ever grateful for the friendships that I have made through this journey.  Thank you for your years of support.

As always, my motto of "enjoying the little things" will remain an active part of my life and crafting life and this change will support that motto.

Update on Life

Hey everybody.  It's been quite a while since I posted because life has been so crazy! I know that I mentioned something in a YouTube video about what was going to be happening with our family, but just realized that I didn't really let you know clearly here on the blog, so here goes...

In the middle of May, I learned of a job opportunity nearly 1400 miles from where we were living.  It was a great opportunity and after much prayer we decided to pursue it.  The new hospital flew me out to interview at the beginning of June and we knew they would be making an offer before we even left.  Over the next several weeks, we packed up the house, wrapped up my job, packed what my husband would need to move his office with us and headed across the country with 2 kids, a dog, a cat and 3 vehicles.  We were so busy getting things wrapped up in our old home, that there wasn't time to really get a home on the other end.

Now I know that sounds crazy, but we knew that the Lord was in this move and so much had been worked out to make it clear that we were to go, that the details would all work out.  We sent the moving truck off in the right direction and then headed off on August 1st.  While on the road, we found an extended stay hotel and a storage unit so we would have a place to go.  We pulled into the hotel on Thursday afternoon and went house hunting on Friday.  By the end of the day on Saturday, we had made an offer on a gorgeous home and I started my new job on August 7th.

Since our arrival, besides working a lot of hours, we have spent some time sightseeing in our new area, taken our son to college, sent our daughter off to college and reduced from 2 hotel rooms into 1.  Yes, we have the cat and the dog with us.  We will be so thankful to move into our new home!

You should probably know that I only brought this one basket of "crafting" goodies.  Some of what you see has been purchased since getting here.  I was blessed with a Joann's gift card as a going away gift from the wonderful management team at my old hospital.  I used that to get some more watercolor supplies so that I could take a class at https://art-classes.com.  I highly recommend this class though I'm just getting into it.

After all the busyness of the last few weeks, it has been such a blessing to have this long weekend as a down weekend for rest, relaxation and crafting.  Watch for some new posts in the next few days that show some of what I've been up to.  I don't anticipate much crafting time in the next few weeks unless we aren't able to close on our home on Friday as planned.  However, I found some projects that I completed before we left our old home so watch for them soon as well.

Thanks so much for stopping by today.  Remember to take some time to enjoy the little things.
