Dress Form Birthday Card

I made this card for a lady in our church who is celebrating her birthday sometime soon.  The ladies of our church have a secret sister program and I told Christine's secret sister that I would make a card for her.  Christine, if you see this, remember that I am not participating this year.  I often make cards for others to give :).  The mat on the inside of the card actually forms a little pocket for a gift card, check, or cash.

 Let's get started.

Supplies:
Paper - Soft Tints Yellow dots (HOTP)(2 pieces - 1 for envelope); Grey-blue (DCWV Shimmer Stack); Grey- blue plaid (Over the Moon Press); Cream, Brown, Blue, Kraft cardstock/ paper - from my stash
Chipboard
Blue thin ribbon
Ink - Tim Holtz Distress ink: Faded Jeans, Pumice Stone, Walnut Stain
Adhesive - Tombo Mono Glue, ATG

Tools:
Cuttlebug
Tim Holtz Alterations embossing folder - "Pattern and Stitches"
Tim Holtz Bigz Die - "Sewing Room"
Martha Stewart Score Board
Tim Holtz distress tool and ink applicator
Stampendous - "Happy Messages" stamp set

Let's Get Started:
Using the instructions/ guideline on the Martha Stewart Scoreboard, make a #10 envelope from a sheet of Soft Yellow Paper.
Card front -
Make the following paper cuts:
Cream paper - 9" X 8" (Score at 4", forming a 9" X 4" card base)
Grey- blue Shimmer - 8 3/4" X 3 3/4"
Plaid paper - 8 1/5" X 3 1/2"
Blue - 8" X 2 3/4"
Adhere all the mats to the front of the card.  The blue mat will not be centered, but placed to the left side of the other mats, leaving a greater margin on the right hand side.
Using the "Sewing Room" Bigz die and the Cuttlebug, cut all the pieces out of chipboard.  Also cut the dress form from brown paper, the button and the body of the dress form from the yellow dots paper, and the spool from the kraft colored paper.  Adhere the button top and the spool top to the chipboard using the Tombo Mono adhesive.  Adhere the brown dress form to the chipboard as well.  Cut the top spindle and the lower legs from yellow dots dress form.  Take the body of the dress and adhere it to the dress form.  Allow all the pieces to dry.  Using the distress tool, distress the edges of the button and dress.  Ink around the dress and button using the Pumice Stone ink and ink applicator.  I added the ink deeper into the dress, to give it the appearance of having been on the dress form for a while.  Ink around the spool edges using "Walnut Stain" ink.  Tie a piece of  blue ribbon around the waist of the dress form and through the hole in the button.  Wrap more ribbon around the spool.  Adhere all the pieces to the front of the card.
Inside of the card:

Cut the following pieces of paper:
Grey blue shimmer - 3 7/8" X 3"
Plaid - 3 5/8" X 2 3/4"
Blue - 3 3/8" X 1 1/2"
Center the blue piece of paper in the xXxX stitching embossing plate from the "Pattern & Stitches" embossing set and run through the Cuttlebug.  Adhere the mat pieces to each other, but not to the card at this time.
Adhere the mat to the lower part of the card along the sides and the bottom only, forming a little pocket.  This will enable you to tuck a gift card or money into the pocket.  Using the "Faded Jeans" ink, stamp "Happy Birthday" on the card.

I hope you enjoyed this project.  Thanks for stopping by today and come back soon for new projects.
