Altered Chalk Board

Happy Thursday everyone.  I hope you are having a great day.  I have looked forward to today for awhile now.  Not only do I get the chance to share a fun new project using 3 Girl Jam products, but today is day 1 of 3 days off from work.  Woo Hoo for days off! If school hasn't started where you live, it likely will soon.  How about a project to commemorate the new school year?   Today's project has a dual purpose.  The first one is that this is for 3 Girl Jam.  The other purpose is for a swap over at CraftHappens.net. The requirements for this swap were pretty simple.  You are to do a back to school project and you are supposed to include a Bingo card in that project.  I've never really played much Bingo (and never the gambling kind), but I thought this project sounded like fun. I started my project using 3 Girl Jam Mistletoe and Holly Berry ribbon.  I added a few vintage buttons (also from 3 Girl Jam), some thread, and viola... ...you have some pretty little flow

Peachy Yumminess and Updates

Image
Hello everyone.  It's good to be back again.  I have something quite delicious to share with you.  Ready? On my last day off from work, my daughter and I made one of our families' favorite things - peach butter!  This is a recipe we found several years ago in the Ball Blue Canning Book.  We have made it many times since.  It is so delicious.  Peach butter is much like apple butter - only far better.  You take fresh peaches, puree them, add sugar, and cook them down. You then can (or bottle) this ooey, gooey spread of deliciousness and you have summer peaches for months.  If you're interested in the recipe, just look for the Ball Blue Canning Book. My goal today is to let you know that there is more out there than apple butter and jams and jellies.  Peach butter is so full of fruity deliciousness that you may never want jam or jelly again.  While we're at it, ever thought of strawberry butter?  Awe, but that's something for another post. Now for the update:

How Do I... Choose Scissors and Paper Trimmers?

Image
Today, In another "Blast from the Past" post, I will be discussing scissors and paper trimmers.  I posted the original video in October and it can be seen here: Here is an updated video to show you what I have changed since the original posted.  The first video has a more complete explanation and the second one shows the updates. Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Introducing... Nana Diane

Image
Hello everyone.  Today I have a special post that has been in the works for over a month.  So without further ado, I would like to introduce you to: Nana Diane Morsels of Miscellany   I have known Diane for years as a friend and co-laborer of Christ.  She has sent me many years worth of schoolbooks as her youngest child is one grade ahead of my oldest.  Diane's quirky sense of humor is sure to delight you.  I have personally seen some of her cards and they are fabulous.  Not only is Diane posting for the first time today, but she also won a Bow Maker over on the 3 Girl Jam Challenge Blog .  (I had nothing to do with this - promise.)  Woo Hoo Diane!  I really hope you will hop on over to her blog and see her first posted project. Now on to her project.  I had originally planned on having her be a guest designer for this post.  However, now that her blog is up and running, I really want you to see this fabulous project on her blog.  Here's a little sneak peek. Vintage Truck Birthday Card

Image
Thanks so much for stopping by today.  This card is very late, but I think the person I'm sending it to will like it anyway.  It was so fun to design and make. With the exception of the Vintage Cream card stock from Paper Trey Ink, all the other paper is from my scrap stash.  Other items I used: Close to My Heart - Make it Count stamp set Hampton Art/ 7 Gypsies Stamp - "You're not old..." Tim Holtz - Playful Journey Tim Holtz - Frayed Burlap Distress Ink Archival ink - black Versamark White embossing powder 3 blue buttons "Cappuccino" twine from the Twinery If you watch the video, you will be able to see the inside of the card.  After the video, scroll to the bottom of the post to see how I altered the envelope. To finish off the envelope, I inked around the edges with Frayed Burlap Distress Ink.  I then inked the vintage truck with the same ink and stamped off the image onto a scratch piece of paper.  Without re-inking the s

How Do I ... Make Epoxy Stickers?

Image
Recently I have added dimension to projects using a very simple product.  I decided to turn this technique into a "How Do I...?" video.  Some of you may have tried this before.  Others may not have.  I hope you are inspired to try this after you see the video. Thanks for stopping by today and have a great day.

Game Time ATC's - MASH

Image
MASH?  What in the world is MASH?  MASH is a game that my friends and I would play in high school and at slumber parties.  This ATC means a lot to me - not because of the game it features or because of the techniques used on the cards.  This ATC reminds me of good times with good friends.  These are the type of friends that you may not talk to for years, but the moment you see each other again, the bonds pull you back together.  After the video was complete and the photos taken, I went back and added glossy accents to the MASH stickers for some extra dimension.  If you're interested in the story behind this ATC, please watch the video.  Thanks so much for stopping by today.  See you soon.

Altered Envelope

Image
Hello everyone.  I am so happy to be sharing my very first 3 Girl Jam Design Team post with you today.  I needed to make some altered envelopes for a swap over at CraftHappens.net.  I decided to use my favorite 3 Girl Jam ribbon - Witch's Brew - at the same time.  Now I have to admit that I used a lot of products on this one, but don't be intimidated.  Use what you have.  I didn't buy anything special for this project.  I went through my stash and used what I had.  Isn't that a great way to plan a project?  I thought so too.  However, if you don't have any 3 Girl Jam ribbon, you can try it by going to www.3girljam.com Front of the Envelope Here's what I used: 3 Girl Jam ribbon - Witch's Brew Prima - flowers and bling Tim Holtz Distress ink - Antique Linen, Tea Die Tim Holtz stamps - Playful Journey Homemade glitter spray - Perfect Pearls and Metallic Purple Ranger Archival ink - black Tim Holtz word bands Nestabilities - Lattice Rectangles Fr

Game Time ATC's - Marbles

Hello everyone.  I trust you are having a great day.  I had so much fun making ATC's for a swap over at crafthappens.net.   On this video, I walk you through the steps on how I made this.  I don't actually make the card.  I also tell the story about this special game.  Guess what, I even took a photograph and used that for the background paper.  I hope you really enjoy this video.  I had such a great time making these. Thanks for watching and have a great day! I am linking this to:  Party Time Tuesday's - Garden Delights

Baby Boy Altered Bag

Image
I must admit that I have been busier crafting lately than what it appears when looking at DJ's Sundries.  Please be patient.  I have a post scheduled for later in the week that will be my first official 3 Girl Jam Design Team post.  I am so happy with that project and how it turned out.  I think you will like it as well.  I am also working on another ATC posting.  These are far more elaborate than the others that I have posted and are taking me a little time to get finished.  They will be worth the wait though.  Thanks for bearing with me on these.  Once again, I have a very busy work week ahead and then I hope it will slow down for a while. Our little church has a new baby!  It is always exciting to see the Lord bless a church with new little ones.  I wanted to make a special gift bag for this little guy as well as a second one for a co-workers new son.  Here's what I came up with: Recipe: Teresa Collins Baby Boutique Cricut Imagine cartridge Doodletype Cricut Car

A Day of Announcements!

Image
Hello everyone today I have 2 big announcements for you. The first one is an announcement that I have been waiting since Wednesday night to tell you about (and boy has it been hard to keep that secret!).  Ready?  I was invited to join the 3 Girl Jam Design Team. I am really excited to be a part of this team.  3 Girl Jam is a family owned business that makes and sells beautiful crinkle ribbon.  I have been using this ribbon for quite a while now and I love it.  They also have some other neat products.  I am thankful for the opportunity to work with this talented group of ladies. If you would like to see some of the items I have made with this fabulous ribbon, please look under the "3 Girl Jam" label on the sidebar. How Do I... Make and Use Glitter Mists?

Image
Ready for a blast from the past?  I am going to be reviving and updating some past posts and going to import them into the "How Do I?" segments.  Today is the first on of these oldies. Several months ago I posted a video showing you how to make Glitter Mists.  Before you watch the video, I want to change one thing.  In the video, I placed steel BB's inside to help mix the glitter and paint better.  DO NOT do this!  Even steel BB's rust and you have to discard it and start over (unless of course you're into that rusted look). So once I have these little beauties made, what do I do with them?  There are so many little things you can do with Glitter Mists: Splatter them in small amounts on cards and layouts to add sparkle to small areas Add larger amounts to add sparkle to a whole card or layout Change the color of an embellishment (like a flower) What would you do with Glitter Mists?  There are so many things that I bet you could add, but why stop ther

New ATC's and Ramblings

Image
I have to say that there are some exciting things coming up in the next few days.  First of all, I only have 6 more followers to go until I reach 100.  Can you believe it?  Almost there.  I recently cleaned and organized my crafty space and I found a few more items to add to the give-away.  Be sure and tell your friends.  We're almost there! While getting some things ready for a swap at Craft Happens (shh... that post will be coming soon), I realized that I didn't have enough ATC cards to send with the projects.  I decided to whip up a few more.  Here they are: These are similar to my first set, but a bit simpler.  Just wait for some fancy ones coming sometime in the next few weeks!  I can't wait to share those too.  For these I used the following products: Stamps - K. Andrew Designs "Crafty Friends"; Tim Holtz "Joyful Song"; MME "Princess Blush" Paper - scraps from my stash Inks - Ranger Archival Black; Distress inks - Frayed Burla

"You're Not Old" Birthday Card

Image
Hello everyone.  Today I have a new card to show you.  I made this card for my mother-in-law's 80th birthday.  Now that I have the Forever Young Cricut cartridge, I knew it had to be used for this special card.  Paired up with the 7 Gypsies/ Hampton Art stamp set, the perfect vintage card was created.  MME's Stella and Rose collection (Mable papers) finishes this little card off with a real vintage feel.  I also used a black jewel From Creative Charms for the center of the flower at her waist, flowers from Studio G held together with a brad from Fancy Pants, Vintage Cream card stock from Paper Trey Ink, and Wild Honey Distress ink.  The plaid paper was from my stash and "Happy Birthday" is from TPC Studio. If you're interested in the little video: Have a great day!  I'll see you soon with more fun projects.  There's a lot scheduled over the next few weeks.
