Animal Card Set - Miss Ewe

Image
I am finally all done with the card set and now just have to get the posts done and the videos up.  I used "All About Animals" from K. Andrew Designs and the "Animal Kingdom" Cricut cartridge to make this cute little missing you card.  I hope you enjoy today's project and have a great day. I am linking this card to the following challenge: My Craft Spot - Buttons & Bows Simon Says Stamp - Anything goes

Quick Thank You Gift

Image
We are taking a little break from the Animal Card Series to show you a different project today.  Hopefully, we will get back to the other set soon. Recently, I coordinated a Stroke Awareness Day at the hospital where I work.  I wanted to make a little thank you gift to those who helped me and those who sponsored it.  I had seen a similar idea to this on Pinterest and I thought it was perfect for this event. I started with a package of "Extra" gum and wrapped a 6.5" X 3" piece of paper from Hot Off the Press.  I used Soft Tints Lavender Swirls and Ticking Stripe. I then cut a piece of dark purple paper to measure 2.5" X 3" and adhered it over the seam to cover the seam.  I pulled these ready made tags from Avery and inked around the edges on both sides with "Dusty Concord" Distress Ink.  I printed my sentiment from the computer and trimmed it to fit inside of the purple piece.  I found some flowers from Recollections that I had spr

Quick and Yummy Gift

Today I have a super simple and delicious little gift to show you.  I received something similar from a co-worker at Christmas and thought it was adorable.  I was reminded of it again a week or so ago by Mary on CardzTV. As mentioned in a previous post, I recently coordinated Stroke Awareness Day at the hospital where I work.  As part of that day, I had a poster contest.  Each department was asked to make a poster with stroke information on it.  I had planned to get ice cream bars for the winning department, but changed my mind when I saw Mary's video. Here's what I used: Soft tints lavender "Swirls" and "Ticking Stripes" from Hot Off the Press - cut at 1" X 3" Bags - I found these tiny zipper bags in the beading section at Walmart for $2. Hershey's Nuggets candy Purple Card Stock from my stash - cut at 3.25" X 3" White Card Stock from Georgia Pacific with sentiment printed and trimmed to fit All you have to do is add ad

Animal Card Series - Poodles of Fun Box

Image
Of course we have to have something to put all those cards into, don't we?  Today we are taking a break from the cards so I could have a place to store the ones that were finished.  I had piles of cards sitting on a table.  Could be a recipe for disaster should Hobbes, my mangy cat decide he likes googly eyes and twine. I didn't really go through the process of creating the box on the video.  If you would like more information on how to make a box click here .  I just wanted to show you how I decorated it.  The box was made from plain white cardstock from the office supply section at Walmart.  The rest of the paper was from my stash or my scraps.  I didn't have quite enough striped paper to make all 4 boxes, so I made the 4th one from a great scrap from Penny's Playground.  I absolutely love this collection and am pretty much down to scraps.  I'll be sad when they're gone. It's going to be a tight fit to get all 8 cards in the box, but I think we&#

Animal Card Series - Fishin' You Were Here

Image
I think these fish are adorable!  I used the Life's a Beach Cricut cartridge and cut them at 4".  Googly eyes make them really fun.  The waves were originally cut out in the pool water paper that you have seen in other cards in this series, but didn't cut cleanly.  I couldn't find more, but I decided this was a more abstract card and the blue ticking paper was perfect! You can barely see the watermark fish stamped on the inside.  I used Versamark and a fish stamp from a $1 set to create the background. The sentiment is from "Splashtastic Summer by K. Andrew Designs.  Mandarin twine from The Twinery is tied through the little orange button. The video has the rest of the details of the card.  I hope you have a few minutes to watch it. Thanks for stopping by and have a supercalifragilisticexpealadocious day!

Animal Card Series - Get Whale Soon

Image
I "Whaley" hope you are enjoying this series as much as I am enjoying making the cards for it!  I think this whale from the "Splish Splash" Cricut cartridge is adorable.  This was a cartridge that I won several months ago in a giveaway and it's the first time I've used it.  Don't have this cartridge?  No problem!  Go to mycutsearch.com to find what other cartridges have whales on them.  I know I have at least 2 others. I used the "Scripture Sayings" and "Splashtastic Summer" stamp sets to stamp the sentiments on this card.  They are from K. Andrew Designs.  The video will include other information including cut sizes and the other supplies I used. Thanks for stopping by.  Please remember: "Jesus paid it all.  All to Him I owe".

Animal Card Series - Sea Ya Later Alligator

Image
Today is the second in the animal cards series.  Doesn't this alligator look friendly?  I used the "Animal Kingdom" Cricut cartridge.  The sentiment was made by combining 2 stamps from the "Pirate Tales and Fish Scales" stamp set by Kristal at K. Andrew Designs. Inside of the card The video gives more information on the sizes of the cuts and other supplies used.  Thanks for taking the time to stop by today.  Remember: Jesus loves you and wants you to know Him!

Animal Card Series - Sss Up?

Today is the first of an 8 or 9 part series over the next several days.  I am making card sets to give as door prizes at a Stroke Awareness Day that I am coordinating.  I hope you enjoy the series. I used the "Animal Kingdom" Cricut cartridge for my snake and the inside border.  The sentiment was stamped using the "All About Animals" set from K. Andrew Designs. The papers I used and the cut sizes are listed on the video. Thanks for watching and please remember:  "This is the day the Lord has made.  Let us rejoice and be glad in it!"

Card Set Gift Box

Image
My beautiful daughter had a voice recital on Saturday.  Her voice teacher asked her to find her own accompanist so we asked a friend.  Elise performed 3 pieces and  one of them was particularly difficult for the pianist to play because it had 6 sharps.  We really appreciate our friend playing for us.  As a thank you gift I made this little gift box and placed a set of 8 cards from a previous post in it. The inside of the box had plenty of room to hold 8 cards and envelopes.  You can view the tutorial for the cards by clicking here . I hope you enjoy the video.  Thanks for watching!

Card Assortment

Image
Did you think I fell off the face of the earth?  It has been a crazy couple of weeks and there hasn't been much time spent in the craft room.  I was able to sit down and make a bunch of cards for my card exchange club.  This month's theme was birthday.  I made some similar cards last month and I liked the effect so much that I used the same idea to make these.  I also made some all purpose cards with the same images and different stamp sets. Card Base - "Vintage Cream" (PaperTrey Ink), "Cream" (Recollections) = 8 1/2" X 5 1/2" (scored and folded at 4 1/4" to form A2 sized card Mat - Various from Provo Craft and Over the Moon Press from my stash (I can't remember which was from where - sorry) = 5 1/4" X 4" Top layer - The same as the base cards = 4 3/4' X 3 1/2" Inks - Tim Holtz Distress - Faded Jeans (I think I also used Peeled Paint and Dusty Concord) Stampin' Up - Dusty Durango "Honeydew&

Stroke - Act FAST

*Disclaimer- This post should not be considered to provide complete information on Stroke. It should not be considered as medical advice. Please see your physician with your concerns and to discuss your risks.*  Did you know that May is National Stroke Awareness Month?  I am the Stroke Coordinator at the facility where I work and have been busy over the last several months collecting data.  One thing that I have found while collecting quality data is that there needs to be more awareness about stroke.  People simply miss the warning signs and symptoms.  While I am working on a big Community Awareness Day for my hospital, I thought I would share some information with you throughout the month of May. Today's tip - Act F.A.S.T. F.A.S.T. is a simple acronym to help you recognize the warning signs of a stroke. F - Face - When the person smiles, does one side of their face droop? A - Arms - Have the person hold both arms straight out in front of them.  Does one arm

Mother's Day Card

This beautiful card is definitely not my normal style of card.  To start with, I chose a different size than I usually make.  Normally, I wouldn't run my distress tool around this type of card, but I decided to just go for it and lightly distressed around ALL the layers on the outside of the card with my Tim Holtz Distress Tool.  Here's what you need: Paper Trey Ink Vintage Cream cardstock - cut 11" X 5 1/2" + a piece to die cut "Mother" Dark Blue paper - cut at 5 1/4" X 5 1/4" + a 2" X 4" piece (from my stash) Tradewinds matstack - 2 coordinating pieces 5" wide - the light piece was 4 1/2" high and I believe the dark piece was 2" high Offray ribbon Prima flowers Blue misting spray Cricut "Heritage" cartridge I used some of the scraps from the Tradewinds matstack to finish off the inside of the card.  For more information, please see the video. Zipper Card

Image
Today I have a card for you that I made for my nephew.  I was able to use the zipper die set from Paper Trey Ink.  I can't wait to make more cards with this.  It was so fun to use and will be even more fun when my little great-nephew finds the secret message. Now I had made a video of this card, but it was a bit fuzzy so here's the summary.  I used the Cuttlebug with the Paper Trey Ink Movers and Shakers Zipper die and cut the wider one from the set with yellow paper.  Here are the rest of my supplies: Blue card base - 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" (from my stash) Yellow paper for die (JoAnn's) White mat - 4" X"5 1/4" Cut 2 - one will be for the inside (Georgia Pacific) Basic Grey - Life of the Party (6X6 pad and epoxy stickers) Dejavu's - Mini Bop red sparkle letters Tim Holtz Distress Ink - Faded Jeans Additional tools: Hero Arts "All Occasion Messages" stamp set.   Fiskars Stamp set Using the set of stamps from Hero A

Thank You Notes #2

Image
Good morning everyone.  I've been so busy that I've not had much time to craft and even less time to blog.  Let's just say that my plate is currently VERRRRY full.  That's OK because it will pass. One of the things that I have been working on lately is a Stroke Awareness Campaign for my community.  WOW!  It's keeping me hopping.  I plan to dedicate a post soon to Stroke Awareness so keep an eye out.  There's a lot we should all know about stroke! As you probably know, Saturday was National Scrapbooking Day!  I must say that it was the BEST one I have ever had.  Not because I was able to scrapbook, but because I spent most of the day with my daughter.  She even wanted to go a scrapbooking store (which she hasn't been interested in for awhile).  By the time the day was done, we had also gone to JoAnn's and she bought fabric to recover a 3-ring binder and start her next scrapbook.  We also re-arranged the old family room to make room for our crafts.  The
