Sparkly Chevron Birthday Card

Image
Top of the morning everyone.  I trust you are having a great day.  I have a super fun project that was inspired by Jennifer McGuire.  You can see her original video by clicking here .  My daughter really likes teal and brown and she also likes chevrons.  She recently celebrated her 19th birthday so I decided I would use teal along with the brand new LG bundle from 3 Girl JAM to create a sparkly fun birthday card for her.  I used silver to replace the brown. The video will walk you through the glitter techniques as well as the card making process, so I am just going to list the supplies I used here: Cricut Close to my Heart Art Philosophy cartridge and stamp set bundle Teal and Grey cardstock from my stash Paper Trey Ink white cardstock (card base) Perfect medium and Pewter Perfect Pearls Silver Glitter from EK Success Teal glitter from a scrapbooking store (? brand) 9" Xyron Heidi Swapp Chevron stencil ATG and foam tape LG Bundle from 3 Girl JAM (Click on the pictu

Distress Watercolor Thank You Note

Image
Good morning everyone.  I have so many things to make right now that I spent some time recently crafting like mad.  I really needed to make some thank you notes and one of them had to be for a man.  There are so many fun things that you can do with Distress Inks and I have been really inspired watching Kristina Werner.  You can check out the video where I received my inspiration here .  It is pretty easy to come up with your own backgrounds by just taking a few simple steps. I also wanted to join in on the current 3 Girl JAM challenge - Yellow, Orange, and Green with Ribbon.  Doesn't that sound like a good challenge.  I knew that the 3GJ Thank You flair and the Harvest Orange would be perfect for this fun card.  You can order your own by clicking on the links within the names of the products.  Don't forget to use the code "CP10" for a discount on any 3 Girl JAM order. Other supplies used: Distress Markers - Spiced Marmalade, Mustard Seed, Forest Moss Distre

Calm #3 Mixed Media Tag

Image
Good morning everyone.  It is once again time to make a mixed media tag for a swap at Art & Sassy.  The theme for this month's tag was "doodling" and it was definitely a stretch for me.  I am not much of a doodler so I was quite nervous to implement this into a tag.  It ended up being fun to do. Card of Encouragement

Image
We all need to be encouraged sometimes, don't we?  Card making is one of the ways we can use to be an encouragement to someone.  This card was designed with just that in mind. I absolutely love the way the 3 Girl JAM - Aqua Splash crinkle ribbon matches the designer papers.  It is part of the Caribbean Splash bundle and you can get yours by heading to 3 Girl JAM .  Be sure to use the code "CP10" to receive a discount on everything you order. Other Supplies: Iced Spruce Distress Ink DCWV "Linen Closet" 4X6 pads Sweet & Sassy "The Future" stamp set Spellbinders "Labels 5" Foam tape Pearl bling   Thanks so much for stopping by today.  Remember to take some time to enjoy the little things.

Thankful Beyond Measure

Image
I have so much to be thankful for and I hope you do as well.  There is a special group of ladies in Farmington, New Mexico that I am particularly thankful for and I wanted to send them a card to express my gratitude.  I found these fun papers from the Basic Grey PB&J collection in my 6X6 pad stash and went to work. My original plan was to use a cool technique I learned while watching Jennifer McGuire.  Unfortunately, that didn't come together well this time, so I'm going to have to practice a bit more.  I really like the whimsical feel the patterned paper adds to the card though. I actually use quite a lot of thank you notes so I made 2 while everything was out.  They were slightly different so I decided to share the second one as well. Supplies: Hero Arts - Pale Tomato ink Paper Trey Ink - "Counting My Blessings" stamps and die Basic Grey "PB&J" 6X6 paper pad Recollections "Spice Market" card stock   Thanks so mu

Mixed Media "Calm" Tag #2

Image
At the beginning of the month, I saw a friend post a very good question on Facebook.  Did March come in like a lion or a lamb?  It's been a bit difficult to tell for sure with the odd weather that we've seen.   I don't know about you but I think its definitely time for some more "calm" in my daily activities.  In fact, this tag was posted on YouTube and the 3 Girl JAM blog more than a week ago and is just now being posted here.  This set of tags had to include metal of some kind and I wanted to throw in some alcohol inks.  Even though I wasn't using glossy paper, I felt like I needed to try these.  I used quite a few other products and tried some new-to-me techniques.  Throw in some gorgeous 3 Girl JAM crinkle ribbon - in this case  goblin green and iris   - and you are good to go.  Don't forget to use the discount code "CP10" when shopping at 3 Girl JAM for an extra little discount. This tag used quite a few supplies and I will attempt to

Marathon Cooking

Image
When life is busy and days are long and tiring, its far too easy to grab dinner at the closest McDonald's.  That is not good for my pocketbook or my waist line.  I decided that it was time to fill the freezer with easy meal starters.  Like many of you, I have been pinning lots of freezer meals so I decided to start on Pinterest.  I headed to Over the Big Moon (click here ). To start with, I needed to figure out what I needed to buy.  I figured the easiest way to do this was to turn the recipes into a spread sheet.  I was then able to go through my pantry and make a shopping list.  Then I was off to the city to go to Costco and my favorite grocery store.  I have to say that I spent about $300, though I didn't use everything I purchased for these meals.  I did have quite a few of the staples on hand so $300 is a pretty good estimate. *Quick tip - Saving the spreadsheet for future freezer cooking days will enable me to quickly build my shopping list.  Keeping it current as I

Mini Postage Return Holders

Good morning.  I trust that you are having a great week.  I know that I am very happy to be at home today.  I did take some time to get a pedicure.  Aweeee. It was great. Today I have 3 projects that I made for a swap at Art & Sassy.  "What are they?", you ask.  They are little pockets for a person to send postage in with their swap hosts.  They are so simple and I love the way they turned out. I used the following supplies: Card stock from K& Company.  They were just leftovers from other projects. Flowers and lace with bling from Recollections Red and kraft carstock from my stash Purple paper from Core'dinations. Tim Holtz "Odds and Ends" stamp with Memento tuxedo black Magnet sheets from Walmart Word bands from Making Memories Prima "Say it in Crystals" Cricut Artiste cartridge - "card-shift-R" at 4" The original video I watched making these little holders can be found here.   My vi
