Calm #4 Mixed Media Tags - Watercolor

Image
I have recently discovered that I like playing with watercolors.  It is fun and challenging.  I have so much to learn and am actually taking a couple of classes in using them.  This month's tag swap at Art and Sassy uses watercolors, so I was excited to get started.  Of course, lots of 3 Girl JAM goodies were the perfect compliment for all the watercolors. Summer sprinkles and gorgeous 3GJ lace were perfect for this first tag.  Other supplies will be listed below. This tag was also made with gorgeous 3 Girl JAM lace , but the bold, bright colors called for bold ribbon colors, so I used Cherry Lipstick and Sunflower. This final tag was made with more lace coupled with the Spooky bundle.  The muted colors remind me of a flower peering through a storm. Other supplies: Strathmore watercolor paper Fancy Pants "Lavender Leaves" paper Tim Holtz Cargo Stencil Studio Calico Huey's Mask Art Philosophy Tag #3 cut at 6.25" Artist's

Cuttlebug Birds & Swirls Card of Encouragement

Image
I love to browse on Pinterest!  Where else can you go from yummy recipes, to new nail colors, to exercise trends, to fabulous card ideas all in the matter of minutes (or hours depending on the day)?  I was recently Pinspired by the card that you can see by clicking here .  I wanted a card for a friend who needed some encouragement and I thought this would be perfect.  Add my favorite color and the gorgeous Grey Gray crinkle ribbon from 3 Girl JAM's LG bundle and you have this pretty little card.   Supplies: 3 Girl JAM LG Bundle Cuttlebug embossing folder - Birds & Swirls Georgia Pacific white cardstock CTMH - Smoky Plum ink Paper Trey Ink  - Boutique Borders Sympathy stamp and die; Plum Pudding cardstock Recollections Cool Water card stock  - Grey Adhesives - foam tape and ATG One of the best features of a card like this, is that you have enough to make 2 cards by simply using your left over pieces. I felt like all the white needed a little extra pop so I add

Handmade Flower Tutorial

Image
I love to make handmade flowers out of ribbon and lace.  I have used them several times in projects and have been asked for videos on how I make them.  In the past, I have sent those requests directly to the person I learned them from - ScrappinAbby .  Abby is a design team sister from 3 Girl JAM and she is so talented.  If you click on her name, you can view some of her tutorials.  They are so great.  In the meantime, lets make some flowers. You will need: Circle punch or other round object (I used a 2" punch) Scor-tape Ribbon (I used ribbon from Really Reasonable Ribbon) Button (or other item for the center of the flower) Glue dot or other heavy duty glue Cardstock or chipboard for the base of the flower. I used the rest of my Magenta ribbon and some white to make this second flower.  Some twine was threaded through the cute little button to finish it off. The video will walk you through the full process. Thanks for stopping by today.  Remember to take s

Elegant Vintage Birthday Card

Image
Birthdays are so special, especially when one has reached a great age.  Today I am sharing a card that I have made for a friend who will soon be turning 80.  It was a simple card to make while remaining elegant.  It is also quite masculine. Supplies: DWCV - La Creme Matstack Grey Cardstock Tim Holtz - Playful Journey stamp set Hero Arts - All Occasion Messages stamp set Versamark White embossing powder Trim You have to look closely to see the vintage truck watermark on the inside of the card but it is there. How about a video? Thanks for stopping by today.  Remember to take some time to enjoy the little things.

Stenciled and Embossed Cards

Image
Today I wanted to share a new technique that I recently tried - using embossing paste.  I have seen this product and wanted to give it a try. It will take a bit of practice to make it work really well, but I really like the way it all turned out. The first thing that I needed to do after purchasing the embossing paste was to figure out how to use it.  I found a great inspiration video from Jennifer McGuire here .  She has some great tips and you should really check out her video. Supplies: Wendi Vecci Translucent Embossing Paste Silver embossing powder from Ranger; Clear and white embossing powder Heidi Swapp Chevron Stencil Spellbinders Flower Silhouette embossing plate Memento Tuxedo Black and London Fog Grey and Lime Green cardstock from my stash, white cardstock from Paper Trey Ink Metal Brad (maybe from Memory Makers?)
